8. MY DOG CURED from MANGE...THE RESULTS

Dog after neem oil, borax and hydrogen peroxide mange treatment.
Sarge, cured of mange, with hair nicely growing back.
There is nothing else to be said.  My dog is mite free and has been for the past two weeks. His hair has growing back nicely and should be the proper length within 2 weeks. The lil bumps you see in his fur are due to the little crusts from his healed lesions peeling from the skin, they wash off in every bath. I credit his speedy recovery to the simultaneous internal and external care.  All information describing how we cured and DESTROYED dog mange in 3 weeks is here on this blog in detail. But feel free to contact me with any questions.

With that said, here's a disclaimer: I am not a veterinarian and I'm not qualified to give any medical advice. People say that if you feel your dog is sick, you should take it to some sort of qualified professional. On this blog, I am merely documenting my own experience on how my dog and I fought against mange and mites on our own and are enjoying a thoroughly lopsided victory.

  2. I realize this thread is old, but I’ve been doing research and came across this. My story is long…..My red heeler that I adopted a year ago has been battling demodectic mange. She broke out shortly after we got her, likely from the stress of being moved all over. We treated her with a sulfur dip which we dabbed on face with cotton balls. It did clear only to return, scabby and bumpy and at times with puss. Did another round of sulfur dip. It didn’t work. Vet biopsied the spots to see if it was something else and found the mange was deep, under the hair follicle. A rare case she said that she has never seen. Had her tested for MDR1, and she was immune. So we treated with oral ivermectin. Two rounds. Did another biopsy, no mites. But, she is still losing hair on chest and itching a lot. Skin scrapes come up negative for mites. We have tried diet changes several times. We have her on a single protein, Wellness Simple lamb and oatmeal now, which we started yesterday. The vet decided to do a mitaban dip yesterday and another two weeks from now. In addition, she has her on 2.5 mg of prednisone every day. (Most sites say no steroid for mange, but she wants to keep skin flare up down). She also takes a zyrtec every day. Its frustrating. Its been over a year and we still have issues. I just ordered NuStock to put on her spots and am looking into vitamin supplements to boost immune. Can anyone recommend some, or have anything to add to help us? I was looking into the Missing Link supplement, but confused as to which formula we would need. I’m weary of doing another dip since her scrapes come up negative. We have spent well in the hundreds of dollars so far. I’ve read thousands of sites, but feel her mange isn’t textbook. I just want our Rosie to feel and look better.
***the above was pasted from another blog prior to me reading your blog, so that's her story. I have echinacha which I will begin giving her today and will also start the acv in her water. But like I said, her mites aren't appearing anymore, so could her hairloss be from something different? Its all so confusing!.

  4. Hello i read your article.i have A dog which is Japanese shiba 9 years old and we lived in japan and after that we came back to our country malaysia. It has been 7years we are staying here. After the 3 years she started to  suffering with demodex. and that Had cleared of after a year and after that she had fungal infection which the vet had stated to us. And since thn i don't see any changes of getting well. We stopped visiting Vets because, we don't seem to get any help from them. They gave us steroid and so on only. And now i think she has demodex again..we use to massage her with neem oil and bath her with malasab shampoo.we had try a-z items..such as ACV. It is like on and off. When we realize she is.getting better that's the time we notice its not.she use to sit in one place and she was weak in one time. Doesn't want to move and walk around. But now lately she started to become active after we use this penguin oil.some indian traditional oil. And now we are continuing with that oil and started to use neem oil again. We started to feed her with Eukanuba grain free at the earlier stage of this symptoms . And after that we switched to earthborn grain free. After reading few articles through Internet and some of them suggest us to feed home remedies food.we gave boiled chicken with brown rice and some omega oil. It has been Few months we are feeding her with this food. But we don't see any.changes. Can i know what food are you feeding your dog and could you help us.to give any suggestions for our dog conditions to get well?? we love her alot. We don't know how to help her at all. Thank you

  5. Thank you for sharing this information with me, I prefer to stay away from the vet prescribed ways because I have tried them and she had a toxic reaction to the ivermectin drops and when I stopped giving them to her the mange came back worse. Do you have any suggestions of what to use to stop the itching while she is going through this treatment?

  6. I cannot overstate my excitement. I lost my home furniture clothing and every possible personal effect you can imagine. I almost lost my dogs. I tried every natural oil and then the most heinous insecticides setting off a cascade of mold infestation. I had this shit for 3 years with 4 dogs and only now tried teds borax peroxide mix. This is where it's at.. But you have to follow up with selsun blue and acv plus baking soda to finish the job while not injuring the skin- yours and the dogs. Let's be honest.. If your dog is this are up so are you

  9. I have used ivermectin for my dog. Be sure to not give ivermectin to dogs with a MDR1 or ABCB1 gene(Google it). Do not get it from a vet. I was paying $10 per syringe at the vet, on top of my vet visit. $500 for on visit. You can get it for $50 at a farm feed store and it will treat way more than what you need. I used .1cc per 10 pounds. My American Bulldog is 72 pounds so I used 0.7cc once a day with food for a month. If that doesn't work, continue on for 3 months. I draw it from the bottle with a syringe, take off the needle and give it to her orally, and give her food right after. You may see great results very quickly, but don't stop giving it. I upped the quality of dog food and started giving her fish oil pills(1000mg twice daily at each meal). Good luck!

  10. I'm convinced our dog has mange mites as well and have been using the neam in shea for a few weeks and seeing his he coming back in . But he's still itchy and he got his cone off and bloodied his chin scratching at it . Did your dog scratch at the sores ? Ours won't stop and he's been in a cone for months. I didn't know about the mange bath but I'm going to start that ASAP as well . I'm so tired of dealing with these ongoing issues

  11. U can use Calamine or Caladryl lotion on the animals when they are raw and pussed. Helps alleviate the itchy & scratchy show. U will just have a PINK animal for a wee bit. Quite fashionable.

  12. For to a Southern States or animal supply store as such. Buy a bottle of liquid Penicillin, $6-8, for animals. Ask them recommended dose for injection. I used 1cc for my 12 oz. Mini-dwarf bunny. She has no more runny nose nor eye buggers. Use the spray of Borax, peroxide and water. Please dont use Tea Trees Oil. Thank you Scientist.

  13. You can use Calamine and Caladryl lotion on the animal if broken skin and pussed. U will have a pink animal for a bit, but will eliminate the itchy & scratchy show. Get to a Southern States and buy a bottle of injectable Penicillin ($6-8) for animals. Ask them dosage. Use the Borax bath. Before smart Drs w expensive vet bills, we had super smart farmers. Take it easy on the animals. When u dont feel well u dont really want to be bothered, either. No tea tree oil please, burns skin.

  14. Ted's treatment worked. I used soap and peroxide mix and 2 pds bunny for 2 wks. She had scaly scalp on top and was losing hair. Before treatment, I made mistake of giving her a bath. Mange spread 2-3 inches down back and hair in that area fell out. Ted's mix stopped the mange. Thank you. Her hair is growing back. Because she's a wool bunny, hair is lighter from mix, peroxide, loll. She is healthy, happy and beautiful w her Fall lightened hair. She didn't like mix at all, but tolerated it for 24 hrs. I didn't use oil, nor need to. I did use Calamine lotion after a few days. Thanks Ted. Signed, Happy Bunny Owner

  15. my dog, a 150 pound pitbull, got infested with fleas from my yard at a house i just moved into. I finally got the flea problem taken care of with fenstar and now he has got mange. I am going to try this treatment immediately, but I believe he is getting the mites from our yard. We have a rat problem and very thick ivy growing over all the fences, i believe this is where he is getting the mites from. does that sound right? and how would i get rid of the mites in the yard? spray ? I've tried cutting the ivy back and spraying with fenstar but i believe its infested. what do i do?

    1. did you find a solution for your yard? Our dog started having problem last fall. Thought it might be from leaves -- had whole yard cleared of leaves. Keep thinking we've finally 'licked' this problem and it keeps coming back. going to try Chris's 'internal strengthening' suggestions.

  16. Just gonna say thanks for the awsome information! My husband adopted a puppy from the animal shelter a few months ago and a few weeks later bald spots started appearing. I thought fleas at first as they've been horrible this year but it only got worse. Then we thought hot spots, as shes one of 3 dogs in a big kennel and the only one with these spots, and treated her for that and still got worse. Finally we've landed on mange. Got a mange treatment from tractor supply (starting out point) and started googling and found your blog. I've currently book marked it and went out and got the acv, borax, and peroxide today. I know I have neem oil somewhere but not sure where at (gonna keep searching or wait for the local store to get more in stock) but she will be getting hosed down with this mix as soon as the weather permits (dont want to soak her and the other dogs when it's cold and rainy). I'll update with results once we get some. But awsome blog and thanks for all the info!
